Testing is an important function of our Chapter. We believe the SCTE Certification Program to be the best program in our industry, and encourage all of our members to participate whenever possible. More and more MSOs and cable-related industries are recognizing SCTE certification as a benchmark of current knowledge, and are also encouraging employees to participate.
Testing is available at chapter meetings or on-line by appointment. Due to the time frame in obtaining paper test materials and the advent of on-line testing, it is necessary to establish test dates and locations based on the number of participants and availability of testing facilities. After you receive notice that your test application has been processed by SCTE National, we highly recommend that you contact us to arrange a test date and location.

| Broadband Specialist Certification Program |
| SCTE National has re-organized the certification program to more accurately reflect the new technology knowledge required in today's cable industry. |
| The following certifications are now available: |
| Broadband Premises Specialist (BPS) |
| Covers Installation, Drop Equipment, Customer premises issues, Safety, and Troubleshooting/Repair. Additional endorsements are available for Data, Video, and Voice. |
| Broadband Distribution Specialist (BDS) |
| Covers System Architectures, Distribution components, Signal types, Maintenance/Troubleshooting, and Safety/Construction. |
| Broadband Transport Specialist (BTS) |
| Covers Fundamentals of Optics, Optical Equipment, Transport Systems, Testing/Maintenance, and Safety/Construction. |
| Broadband Telecom Center Specialist (BTCS) |
| Covers Signal Processing Facilities/Equipment, Signal Protection Schemes, Baseband Signals, Maintenance, and Tests/Measurements. Additional endorsements are available for Data, Video, and Voice. |
| NOTE: Tests for the above categories (including additional endorsement tests) are 50 question multiple-choice and are taken through a special on-line website. Test results are immediately available. |
